Retail and e-commerce
Protect every checkout, account and order.
ThreatGaurd helps retailers, online stores and marketplaces secure their checkout, customer accounts and payment pages, prepare for peak sales and meet PCI DSS and privacy requirements, without slowing down sales.
Why it matters
In retail, trust is won or lost at checkout.
Online stores handle payments, personal data and loyalty balances for thousands or millions of customers. A single skimming script or a wave of account takeovers can quickly turn into fraud losses, chargebacks and lost customers.
Retail also moves fast. New campaigns, plugins, marketplaces and delivery partners go live every week, often just before the busiest days of the year.
-
Peak traffic, peak attacks
Big sales bring record traffic, and attackers time their campaigns to match.
-
Third-party code everywhere
Plugins, tags, chat widgets and payment scripts all run inside your checkout.
-
Stores and online, connected
Point-of-sale, store Wi-Fi and fulfilment systems all link back to the same core.
Anatomy of a checkout
Five places attackers target in every online store.
Most attacks on retailers aim at the same few points between a customer’s cart and your order system. We test each of them, the way an attacker would.

-
Target 1: Customer accounts
Attackers: credential stuffing and account takeover using passwords leaked from other sites.
We test: login, MFA, password reset, session handling and rate limiting.
Penetration testing -
Target 2: Promotions and pricing
Attackers: coupon stacking, price and quantity tampering, and gift card or loyalty abuse.
We test: business logic in carts, discounts, refunds and loyalty points.
Web & API testing -
Target 3: Payment page scripts
Attackers: skimming code added through compromised or third-party scripts to steal card details.
We test: which scripts run on payment pages, how they are approved and how changes would be detected.
Web & API testing -
Target 4: Stores and warehouses
Attackers: moving from store Wi-Fi or point-of-sale networks into core systems.
We test: segmentation between stores, payment systems, warehouses and head office.
Network assessment -
Target 5: Orders and customer data
Attackers: reading other customers’ orders and addresses, or finding exposed cloud storage.
We test: order APIs, access controls and the cloud storage behind them.

FAQ
Questions retail and e-commerce leaders ask us
Can’t find your answer? Our team is happy to help.
Do you help with PCI DSS requirements 6.4.3 and 11.6.1?
Yes. We review which scripts run on your payment pages, how they are approved and how changes or tampering would be detected, and we test those pages for weaknesses. Your Qualified Security Assessor or self-assessment decides compliance.
We use a hosted payment page. Are we still at risk?
Usually less, but not zero. Scripts on the pages that link to or embed the payment page can still be abused. Since March 2025, merchants using SAQ A must also confirm their site is not susceptible to attacks from scripts that could affect their e-commerce systems.
Can you test our store before a big sale?
Yes. We work back from your sale date: testing new features and checkout changes first, then retesting fixes and reviewing admin access and scripts before your change freeze.
Will testing create real orders or charges?
No. We use test accounts, test cards and staging environments wherever possible, and agree in advance how any production testing is handled, so no real orders are placed or fulfilled.
Do you test stores built on hosted platforms?
Yes. We test your storefront, custom code, plugins, integrations and admin access. On hosted platforms, testing stays within what the platform provider allows.
Do you cover physical stores and warehouses too?
Yes. We assess the networks that connect stores, point-of-sale systems, warehouses and head office, and check that payment systems are properly separated from everything else.
